In Brief...
I joined Reuter Simkin, from the Army, in 1982. I subsequently founded the property recruitment division and Australian office (my younger son was born in Sydney in 1988) for Reuter Simkin before jointly founding Macdonald & Company in 1993.
I have been helping solicitors find new positions for over 23 years. I prefer to work on retained assignments where there is a limited resource of candidates. However, I still get as much of a “kick” assisting a Newly Qualified assistant to his or her first position as I do placing a Partner in his final role.
I ran my own executive search business from 1999 to 2003 before rejoining Macdonald & Company and developing its Executive Search arm.
I have a number of clients who instruct me on a personal basis and for who I provide a gatekeeper service.

And out of work...
My family is my first priority. They have supported me for the last twenty years or so and for that I am eternally thankful. To further add to the demands I make on them, I plan to race round the world the wrong way on Global Challenge 2008/2009 (The World’s Toughest Yacht Race), training for which has started already. Otherwise I like living in the country, all field sports, good food and good drink. I play squash regularly and visit the gym at least twice a week.
If I won the lottery...
I would sort out all the “duty requirements” and with what was left (if any) I would buy a Classic Yacht to sail round the world with my family as crew.
